Webinar: Dis/information and Peace

In 2016, ‘post-truth’ was declared word of the year by Oxford Dictionaries. Today, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, anxieties about the role of disinformation in global politics and the decline of trust in expertise are more prevalent than ever. The circulation of information and disinformation is at the heart of twenty-first century challenges to political communication, from civic education and election campaigns to journalism and social media. In this webinar, our expert panel will consider how disinformation threatens peace and peacemaking efforts around the world, and the challenges of trying to counter it with ‘truthful’ information.
