Critical Dialogues on Reconciliation: Metaphor and Reconciliation
We invite you to the thirteenth Critical Dialogue on Reconciliation, where we’ll be thinking together about the relationship between metaphor and reconciliation. What is it? And why does it matter?
This event is part of a series of online dialogues organised by the Centre of Religion, Reconciliation and Peace (University of Winchester), Embrace Dialogue (Rodeemos el Diálogo, ReD), and OxPeace (Oxford Network of Peace Studies), which seek to prompt a multicultural, interdisciplinary, global dialogue about reconciliation.
What to expect: While there will be a special guest sharing their expertise on the topic, this event is a dialogue, and all participants are invited and encouraged to share their reflections or experiences as we think together. There is no need to prepare for the topic ahead of the event.
We will continue inviting practitioners, academics, and decision-makers to share their research, policies, and activities around reconciliation processes. This is a critical issue today, and a critical approach is needed to address the legacies of long-lasting divisions within and between societies around the world.
Special guest: Simon Keyes (Professor of Reconciliation and Peacebuilding, Centre of Religion, Reconciliation and Peace, University of Winchester)
Convener: Andrei Gomez-Suarez, (Senior Research Fellow, Centre of Religion Reconciliation and Peace, University of Winchester, Co-founder of Embrace Dialogue, and member of the OxPeace Steering Committee)
Date: Thursday 16 February 2023
Time: 16:00 UK / 11:00 COL
This dialogue will take place in English.
